Sky View Bobcats blow out rival Mountain Crest Mustangs

The only sounds you could hear amidst the rain hitting the ground on Wednesday evening in Hyrum were the cheers of the Sky View players and their fans as they dominated Mountain Crest High School from start to finish in convincing fashion 18-2.

After a scoreless five minutes to start the game, Sky View found the net first and didn’t seem to have any problems scoring goals the rest of the way en route to their largest victory all season.

“We have been working a ton on trying to get multiple players involved in the scoring on this team,” said Sky View head coach Troy Oldham. “We really were trying to move the ball around, and we just happened to have a really good game today.”

According to Oldham it was complete team effort that helped the Bobcats capture the win Wednesday evening. Sky View had eight different players score in the game and were led by senior leader Brock Halling who scored 6 goals and had 1 assist.

“This was a total team effort, I think that almost every goal that we scored was assisted on,” Halling said. “It was a lot of fun and was fun to see so many guys get involved in the scoring.”

Jayden Skidmore and Carter Federico both had 1 goal and 1 assist for Mountain Crest and goaltender Justin Breinholt had 10 saves for the Mustangs.

In addition to Halling, Sky View had contributions from Stockton Huskinson who scored 3 goals and had 5 assists, as well as Bryce Stuart who had 3 goals and Trey Bushman also scored twice. Sky View goaltender Philip Cannell recorded 9 saves on the night for the Bobcats.

“We learned a lot about teamwork today,” Halling said. “When we possess the ball and take a ton of shots like today, it will be hard for anybody to stop us.”

Mountain Crest will turn around and play Weber High School on Thursday and Sky View will take a short rest as they too prepare to play Weber on Wednesday April 15^th.
